Cinco de mayo

Cinco de mayo – Not only a holiday for the Mexican people but also a time of commemoration and . The history behind Cinco de Mayo, what I have been told by a Mexican ex-colleague, is that there was a large ship sailing from Europe to deliver a newfound ingredient that would revolutionize the world in terms of Gastronomy. The ingredient was Mayonnaise. But the ship was plundered by bandidos during it’s mooring in the port of Veracruz, leaving Mexico dry of mayonnaise. The day was then known as “El Dia de Sin Mayo”. Nowadays, only known as Cinco de Mayo, the Sinking of the Mayo. Of course this is all rubbish but it made a good story. Instead of rubbish, we went into the city to see a Guinness World Record attempt for most people dressed as video game characters. The current record holder is Wisconsin with it’s 425 people. This attempt had accounted for about 475 people. The outcome is still unclear. People who dress up as video game characters are often dedicated and impervious to the outside world. This was true. There was a lot of effort put into some of the costumes and some weren’t. Below is a photo of my personal favorite: Mario and Peach Here is a photo of the whole group, early in the attempt: World record attempt! Here is ones I thought could’ve done better: On a side note, all is working with the blog now, seemed like a temporary malfunction yesterday. I’ve also uploaded some new pictures to the Australia gallery. Not much but it’s something! //The Joker
