We had a blast yesterday. And the day before that. In addition, the day before that was also pretty cool. However, most of it are in the backwaters because of the day we had yesterday. 285 meters up in the sky, we captured some of Melbourne’s fantastic scenery, beaten only by another fantastic city’s (Tokyo) overview from a mere 250 meters up. Our journey yesterday flung from Wing Chun training to the Royal Botanic Gardens, King’s Domain, Alexandra Gardens and some other small parks all joined into one. We then proceeded to visit the Shrine of Remembrance. It was a pretty inspiring visit granted that we could go up on the balcony and take pictures of the vicinity. Full on culture but low on carbs, meals were in order. We proceeded down St Kilda road back to Federation Square to see if there was any restaurants peaking our interests. Found the Riverland Restaurant just on the Federation Wharf, down by Yarra river. Me and Dennis both had the cannelloni and Emma ordered the good ol’ fish & chips. The cannelloni was heavenly but very, very warm. But we were hungry and overcame that obstacle. Full on both culture and good food we made headway towards Eureka Tower, which is in the dead center of Southgate; one of Melbourne’s nicest esplanades. 12.50 AUD to get up in the tower was a no-brainer. Tickets in hand and off to the elevator. My heart was pounding in my ear. “Hope it’s not an outside elevator”. It wasn’t. 88 floors up in the air and we were staring out a most magnificent view of Melbourne: a 360-degree walkabout 250 meters up. (I do apologize for the picture quality. It’s not easy to take good pictures through glass) A good adventure to a splendid day, so we decided to get drunk; scouring CBD after some little place to sit down and drink up. After a couple of drinks at a cozy, little bar we needed to go some other place and ended up in at Melbourne International Backpacker’s where the karaoke machine was running warm and the people drunk as can be. Pool was the game and our weaponry was queues. Quietly taking to the streets again, we wandered towards the next big thing. Sadly, there was none at the time so a taxi ride home did the trick for all three of us. One day after, I’m sitting in my room typing to the mellow rainfall outside. Wrapped in my double covers thinking “life’s pretty good after all”. //The Joker
